콜린스 올해의 단어 목록 알아보기 Collins - Word of the year

옥탑방 문제아들을 보다가 콜린스 올해의 단어에 대한 퀴즈가 나왔다. 2018년은 일회용 (Single-use)가 선정이 되었다고 한다. 전 세계적으로 플라스틱 등의 일회용품들이 환경을 파괴하고 있고, 특히 쓰레기로 가득찬 바다를 수영하는 사람의 동영상은 특히 일회용품을 사용하는 것에 대한 혐오를 일으키기 좋았던 것 같다.

  • 1990: bushlips (similar to "bullshit" – stemming from President George H. W. Bush's 1988 "Read my lips: no new taxes" broken promise) 부쉬립스로 불쉿가 비슷한 의미로 사용되었음. 부시 대통령이 약속을 어긴 것을 비하하여 만들어진 단어.
  • 1991: mother of all (as in Saddam Hussein's foretold "Mother of all battles")
